Oral/Poster Symposia

To encourage interaction between EAPL members on specific common topics of interest, we are welcoming oral/poster symposia.

A symposium chair invites three to five colleagues, ideally belonging to different research groups. The chair will first create the new symposium name (which will be visible to all participants) and add a brief symposium description.

Next, all symposium presenting authors (including the chair) individually submit their papers by creating an account, identifying the name of the symposium from the list and adding their abstract.

A symposium will contain a maximum of 5 presentations and can last up to 1,5 h max.

The duration of one presentation is between 15 and 20 minutes (ideally leaving 5 mins for a brief discussion). Within each symposium, a minimum of 10 minutes should be left for final discussions.

The maximum number of words in the abstract body is 300.

Symposia abstracts should be written in English.

For Romanian symposia, the abstract can be in English (if you want to share your research with international participants) or in Romanian.

Submission guidelines for the symposium chair:

When submitting your symposium description, please fill out the name of your symposium in the "Title" field and then pick the “Symposium name” category from the type of abstract menu. Also, please let the other participants to your symposium know its name so they can choose it from a drop-down menu when submitting their related papers.

Please submit your own abstract as a new abstract in the symposium you created before (Submit New Abstract).

Submission guidelines for the symposium participants:

Please fill out the name of your paper (in the field "Title") and then pick the “Symposium paper” category from the type of abstract menu. From the drop-down menu “Belongs to symposium” you’ll be able select the name of your symposium.

When submitting your abstract, please choose the theme below that most closely matches your work. You can also choose “Other” if none of the themes are appropriate.
  • Eyewitness identification & memory
  • Interviewing, interrogations & confessions
  • Deception detection & malingering
  • Credibility assessment
  • Forensic & risk assessment
  • Decision-making
  • Criminal investigations
  • Victims & offenders
  • Other (to be specified)

Important:

Some symposia sessions will be dedicated to Romanian practitioners/students/researchers.

The authors may indicate a preference for oral/poster symposia on the abstract submission form. However, considering schedule limitations, the organizers reserve the right to reallocate some oral symposia as poster symposia.
